Moore House Update

As the weather is beginning to warm up and allow me to get back outdoors, I decided to take a run up to Yorktown and my old stomping grounds. My husband and I had met up with a couple of friends and the notion of the Moore House came up. Well, I had never been inside the building because of the fact that it is usually only open for paying tours. When we all arrived at the location, I noticed that the doors to the house were open and people coming and going.

My immediate interest was peaked and even more so when we discovered that it was open to the public for free!! SCORE! This gave me the chance to go inside and walk around and see if I felt anything that might be present inside.

As we walked inside, we noticed that there has been some major renovations and a lot of newer, more modern trimmings. The downstairs was very quiet and calm. Upon going upstairs, I felt a wave of energy that tightened around my chest. After a few moments the tightness lifted and subsided. There were no other experiences the entire time in the house.

Sadly, I did not have my camera with me as I was really not expecting it to be fully open. Although, not getting much in the way of sensing energy, I really doubt anything would have manifested. My personal thoughts at this time is if there's anything still attached to the Moore House, it is most likely residual. I did not get the intelligent haunt feeling at all. Now this is only after 1 time of being inside the house. This may change if I am able to get back inside and any ghosts want to come out and play... (I will know for the future trips to take my camera!)

New Look!!

Well I finally got around the the facelift!!

This winter is very hard on me and with all the snow we have been getting, it is making me wish Spring would hurry up and get here already. So what do I have planned for the warmer weather... Well, I am planning a trip back up to Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg. I have a great little spot down the Colonial Parkway that I want to get into for an EVP session. I will be investing in an EMF meter, a decent one... I am toying with the idea of getting a K2 meter but don't know if that will be in the budget this time around. I'm going to talk more about the events that happen in my own home... Seeing as how I have something happen every single friggin day/night... I really need a good outlet for the things that bump around here.

I have also been talking about the idea to make a run up to Stafford, Va to the Aquia Church. Of course, my husband looks at me like I have lost my mind when I mention that place. I stopped by on our way up to Maryland and just sitting in the car he was getting freaked out. Supposedly it is one of the most haunted churches in the area... I guess it would be a good trip since I lost my mist figure photograph when my computer crashed a few years ago. So I kinda need to go and try to get something just as good.

Facelift

With my health being an issue this year as well as being diagnosed with fibro, I really have not been able to get out and hunt much. In this case. I plan on giving this blog a well deserved facelift and add new content and delve deeper into the dark realm.

Personal EVP - Part 2

Good news, I finally found a good host for my audios. So now I can share clips.

So for starters, I can relay the EVP that I caught Dec. 12th last year. If you don't remember the back story here is the post... Personal EVP

So let me set up this clip for you... You will hear me ask a question, then a pause before I begin the next question. During the pause you will hear a whisper, literally right before I start the next question. Now, I was alone in the house, no tv on and it was totally silent. I did not hear anything at the time but it sounds to be fairly close to the mic and it registers a lower wave length on my audio program. I am not quite sure exactly what it says but it sounds like "hi" or "Di". Since my name is Diana, that would put it at an intelligent response to my question. I am not sure how much you may need to turn your volume up to since it a bit lower than my voice but it is audible. So here is that audio clip...



Now I admit, this did kinda freak me out when I heard it the first time. It is super eerie knowing that there was no one else here and then to find this in review. So there you have it. My first personal EVP.

New year, New haunts!

I have been a lazy little girl this winter.... I have sadly not updated my blog here in a while, but I do have some good reasons.

I didn't really get a chance to get outside and get any pictures this winter. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia so that kinda put a kink in my plans. I just couldn't stand the cold weather. Plus this was the snowiest winters we have had in about 10 years. Since I don't drive in the snow, that kinda didn't help either.

But now that warm weather is approaching, I will be able to get out a bit more and get pictures. I am planning a few more runs to Yorktown and down the Colonial Parkway. I will also be making more trips to Colonial Williamsburg, so just bear with me. I really really want to go to Historic Smithfield, but I'm not sure if I will get to do that for a bit.

I am still trying to figure out how to post audio clips so I can put up EVPs. I am not really technological savvy, so its being a bugger. But I swear, as soon as I figure out how to do it, they will be posted!

Personal EVP

As I have not been able to go out and do much for the past few weeks, since I have been sick as a dog, I've just been staying at home snuggled in the beautiful warm of my electric blanket. Plus the fact that I am still working of getting all of my own equipment and that is taking a bit longer to do with the holidays almost upon us.

Well, last night, I noticed that my one kitten kept looking up and around the top of the bed. At first I didn't think much about it but then I saw her head and body making dramatic movements like there was something there above her. While I didn't see anything, she acted as though there was something there and it was playing with her. She actually leaps up at one point in an effort to grab it. Okay, I thought at first it might have been some dust or maybe a light coming in from somewhere and I didn't think much more about it.

Later that night at close to 11:00pm, she began doing this again. So I decided to do an EVP session since I was alone in the house and there would be no interruptions. So I asked a few questions and did a fairly short session. Upon review of the audio, I come to find out that I have a whisper on the audio. It comes right after I ask the question, "Are you family?" As I ask that question, a low whisper can be heard before I ask another question. I am totally amazed. I am as of yet not quite sure what it says until I get a new set of headphones so I can hear it closer. At this time, it is a one syllable word that sounds like "hi" or even my name, "Di". My mom thought it may say, "yes" but there really won't be a definitive answer until I am able to review the evidence with headphones and snhance the audio. I did clean it up and took out the hiss and crackles and it very evident that there is another voice and it is on a different wavelength to my own. I am so super amazed at this as this is my first personal EVP that I have captured.

The part that really gets me is that I took a photo of one of the doors going into my craft room where I am storing things til after the holiday and I got this weird anomaly on the left side of the door. Here is that picture:
You can see the small little squiggle on the left side of the door about mid height. Now as this was the only photo I shot and I didn't notice it while I was filming, I can not say 100% that it was parnormal, it is however, quite odd. And on that note thought it would be interesting to share. I have no idea what this is and I have never shot anything like this in any of my photography ventures. But I have to throw it out as evidence because I do not have a control picture to go with it since I only took the one, but thought you may like to see it anyway.

As for the audio, I am working on figuring out how to post audio samples in a blog and when I get it reviewed better, I will post it for others to hear as well.

Moore House

First, the history...

The Moore House is a historical piece of architecture. Located in Yorktown, Virginia, this house was a key point in the Revolutionary War. It saw a great deal of tragedy.

The Moore House was first built and owned by Lawrence Smith II and passed on to his son, Robert. By the mid to late 1700's, Robert came upon some money problems and was not able to support the home and was forced to sell. Trying to keep the property in the family, he sold to his brother in law, Augustine Moore.

As the war advanced to Yorktown and Lord Cornwallis pushed into the area, most people left their homes, the Moore family may also have left. However, there was a larger part that this house was playing.


On October 17, 1781, notice was sent to General George Washington that Cornwallis wished to discuss negotiations for a cease fire. The meeting place, the Moore House. The reasons why Lord Cornwallis wanted to meet here was unknown, but there have been many theories. In either case, the house represented the beginning of the end of the war. After the war, the house did remain part of the Moore family but did end up being bought and sold many times. It was finally restored back to its original beauty by using archaeological information as well as historic images.

Next, the lore, legend and ghosts...

There are reported incidents of the bed in the master bedroom being disturbed as if someone has been laying on the bed, even when no one has been in the house. This supposedly is the ghost of Augustine Moore Jr.

Guests as well as tour guides can feel a presence inside the home. They say that as you walk through the building, you can feel someone watching you.

There have also been reports of people hearing the sounds of the war such as gunshots and drums playing.

Why is all this so spooky? Because there had been no reports of any paranormal activity until the house began its restorations. Could it be that the restoration stirred up the spirits of its former inhabitants. Those that lay at rest in the cemetery just to the left of the house may have finally moved back in.

Now, what can you do...

Visit the house yourself, take a tour. The house/museum is open daily from mid July to mid August and is open weekends during the spring and fall. So book a tour now and come face to face with the ghosts of the historic Moore House.

Honestly, I have not personally been inside of the house. I am planning a visit in the Spring of next year, so hopefully I can have some new and great stuff then.
